Pretty cool! “Rendezvous with Rama” is a wonderful contribution to the sci-fi genre, speaking as a big fan of Arthur C. Clarke. The craft begs to be explored via computer simulations like this.

Very pretty pictures! Now let’s do a little math. The colony’s short diameter appears to be roughly 50 miles. Lets say you have Zylon webbing as a shell material. It has a UTS of 5800 MPa. That works out to a shell thickness of 2.8 meters (with a factor of Safety of Four) the typical number NASA likes for soft goods. To get “one g” gravity at the shell it would have to spin about the long axis at 8.64 revolutions per hour. That is alot of sunups and downs in an earth day but maybe the colonists would get used to it!
