The carrot and stick is all that is/was left. The stick was the soviets. The carrot still exists. The carrot being that there are material riches that far out values all of the riches that have ever created here on Earth. The creation of wealth is the driving factor that drove mankind for all of our history. Columbus was not on a mission of discovery as some would have us believe. He was on a shopping trip on behalf of Isabella with three cargo ships and a shopping list because she did not want to pay the middle east markup. The discovery came when he found the Americas were in the way. All the money seems to be in the hands of the corporations. So we must appeal some how to their greed and fear. For example sell them mining rights with a time limit. In other words get out there and get it or lose it. The return of the carrot and stick.
